World Congress of Physiotherapy 2025 – Tokyo, Japan

Niamh and Garett recently headed to Tokyo, Japan for the World Congress of Physiotherapy (WCPT). The congress was held at the Tokyo International Forum. It was an amazing opportunity both to learn and network as well as to experience a different culture. Japan is a beautiful, varied and vibrant country with kind, polite and helpful people.

Advanced scoliosis training in Serbia – BSPTS L3

At the end of September I spent 6 days with the Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School (BSPTS) in Serbia along with a group of International teachers. Myself and two others Irish Physios, Emma Crawford and Roisin Egan, were on our level 3 course while the teachers were having their annual meeting. Some of you may remember that last year we hosted the level 2 course along with the teachers meeting here at McGowan Physio.

In September 2023 Niamh and the McGowan Physio team welcomed Dr Manuel Rigo of Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School (BSPTS) and his international team of teachers to the clinic. It was a brilliant week spent learning and enjoying great company. The international team consists of physios from countries all over the world and we were lucky to have 20+ leaders of scoliosis care with us for 6 days.

Most Educational Six Days with Dr. Rigo

Dr. Manuel Rigo is top in the field of the conservative management of Scoliosis. It was a dream achieved to get to study with him and to learn his concepts and strategies. Garett and I both felt extremely grateful to get the opportunity to go and we fully embraced our time on the course.
